Alpha Release

Good news everyone,

It has been a long time coming, but I’m proud to announce the open alpha of No idea what that is? Check out this brief video of what is available in this release.

It’s very important to understand that this is an alpha release of the website. You are likely to discover bugs and the functionality is very bare bones. But enough is there to get started building your collection and I promise no data will be wiped between today and the final release.

With this release I would like to restate the projects key principles.

It’s designed for real people. Real people own games on multiple platforms, want to add games quick and efficiently, and want access to their collection on the go.

It uses structured data. It’s amazing how many collection sites just ask you to add game names by hand. How is that even useful? You can’t compare your collection with a friend, you can’t see who else has played a game, it’s useless. You might as well write a paper list. It’s not currently available, but before the final release there will also be a way to export your data should you wish to leave.

It’s open source. Like the site and want to contribute? Hate the site and want to make your own branded with less citrus? The source code is available for free to do with as you please.

I have a lot of ideas for future features, including the ability to follow people, upload screenshots, rate and review games, get alerts for games you're slacking on and a way of prioritising your backlog, but I would love to hear what you think. Got an idea, criticism or bug report? Send them all my way via email, Facebook, Twitter or Google+.

I hope you enjoy.
